Safety Tips

Your safety is our top priority. Follow these guidelines to have a safe and positive experience on FirstLine Marketplace.

Meet in Public Places

Always arrange to meet in a well-lit, public location such as a police station lobby, fire station, or busy shopping center. Many police departments offer safe exchange zones specifically for online transactions. Never invite strangers to your home or go to theirs.

Bring Someone Along

Whenever possible, bring a friend, family member, or colleague with you when meeting a buyer or seller. There's safety in numbers, and having a witness can prevent misunderstandings.

Inspect Before You Pay

Always inspect items in person before completing a purchase. Test electronics, check for damage, verify serial numbers, and make sure the item matches the listing description and photos. Don't feel pressured to rush.

Use Safe Payment Methods

Cash is king for in-person transactions. If using digital payments, stick to well-known services. Never wire money, send gift cards, or use cryptocurrency for marketplace transactions. Be wary of overpayment scams where a buyer sends more than the asking price.

Keep Communication on Platform

Use FirstLine's built-in messaging system to communicate with buyers and sellers. This creates a record of your conversations and helps protect both parties. Be cautious of anyone who insists on moving to external messaging apps immediately.

Trust Your Instincts

If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. If someone is pressuring you to act quickly, being evasive about details, or refusing to meet in person, walk away. Your safety is more important than any transaction.

Verify the Other Party

Check the seller's or buyer's profile on FirstLine. Verified members have been confirmed as first responders or family members. Look at their posting history and how long they've been a member. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you encounter a suspicious listing, a scam attempt, or any behavior that violates our community guidelines, use the Report button on the listing or contact our admin team. We take every report seriously and investigate promptly.

In Case of Emergency

If you ever feel unsafe during a transaction or believe you are in immediate danger, call 911 immediately.

For non-emergency concerns about a listing or user, use the Report button or contact our admin team through the Contact page.
